Are you ready to celebrate with your furry best friend? National Dog Day is August 26th and is one of our favorite holidays! There’s an endless amount of ways to celebrate National Dog Day therefore we have compiled a list of our favorite ways to honor man’s best friend.

Get Outside

Your dog will love to get outside with their ‘paw-rents’. Whether you take them in the yard, to a park or the beach, your pup will love spending extra time outdoors.

Volunteer

If you don’t have a dog or pet you can still get in on the fun of National Dog Day. Volunteer at a local shelter or help a friend or neighbor with their pooch for the day. Not only will you be helping the workers or owners, you’ll make a new furry friend!

Do you follow a local humane society or rescue on social media? Share one of their recent posts to promote their cause! You may even help a pup find its forever home.You can also share one of your favorite photos of your pup with your friends and family on your social media platforms. Bake Special Treats

Our Marketing & eCommerce Coordinator, Nicole, bakes these super easy treats for her German Shorthaired Pointers, Charlie and Annie! Enjoy the recipe below.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup peanut butter
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 2 1/4 cups whole-wheat flour

Directions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375 degrees F.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine the peanut butter and milk. 
  3. In a separate mixing bowl, combine the baking powder and whole-wheat flour.
  4. Slowly add the dry ingredients to the peanut butter & milk mixture. Combine all of the ingredients until thoroughly mixed.
  5. Sprinkle flour onto parchment paper and roll out the dough to desired dog treat thickness. Using cookie cutters, cut out dog treats and place them onto a cookie sheet, greased.
  6. Bake for 15-20 minutes. Cool completely.
